What is meant be the term shell egg?
This is a complete egg in it’s shell for retail sales; liquid egg is the edible part of the egg used in food processing - such as cakes!
What is a pullet?
A pullet is the “teenage” hen, older than a chick and younger than a point-of-lay bird
How long is a flock cycle?
A flock cycle, from the point at which pullets (young birds) are housed (aged 16 weeks onwards) up to their depletion is a minimum of 15 months
Why are there different shell colours?
Different breeds of bird produce different colour shells
What makes the yolk that vibrant orange?
This is down to natural additives in the feed such as paprika
